Nutrition and Cancer Treatment–Free Event

Join us for Nutrition and Cancer Treatment, part of our free Bridge to Survivorship: Gynecologic Cancer Educational Series. The presentation will take place at Monter Cancer Center in Lake Success next Thursday, August 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Eating well during cancer treatment can help you feel better and maintain your strength and energy, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS). A healthy eating plan can also lower the risk of infection and hasten healing and recovery, among other benefits. The ACS adds that after treatment ends, good nutrition will help you regain strength, rebuild tissue and just feel better overall.

During their Nutrition and Cancer Treatment presentation, the Monter Cancer Center’s Hillary Sachs, RD, senior dietitian, and Chelsey Wisotsky, oncology dietitian, will cover:

  • the top 10 ways to stay healthy and fit;
  • quick, easy, practical ways to make nutritious eating a part of everyday life;
  • what to look for on food labels;
  • which color fruits and vegetables and which herbs/spices are the most beneficial;
  • healthy snack ideas;
  • mindful eating; and
  • food psychology.

Gynecologic cancer patients and survivors and their loved ones are welcome at this lively discussion and exchange of ideas. Preregistration is required. Please email us to reserve your spot next Thursday evening at the Monter Cancer Center at 450 Lakeville Road in Lake Success.

Nutrition and Cancer Treatment is one of many support group meetings for patients, survivors and their loved ones available from the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute.
